Our Story

In the early 1990’s a planning team from the Pilot Mountain Baptist Association and other local baptist churches decided the Hillsdale Community would be a great location to plant a church. So in the summer of 1994 a small Bible study started in a home in the community with the intent of reaching the Hillsdale area.

As the Bible study grew, the desire among those attending was to start a Sunday service. In December of 1994 the first public service was held in a former Napa Auto Parts building. Later that building would be referred to fondly as the Napa Cathedral. Services continued in that building and the adjacent dentist office. For the next 5 years Hillsdale grew and made plans to buy land and build a facility.

In late 1999 property was acquired and building began on the church’s current location. In October of 2000 the first service in the new facility was held. Over the years of being in that building Hillsdale has continued to prosper.

The goal of the church is to not be people gathered in a building but to be a people focused on Christ.

HBC’s purpose of existing is to help people grow in love for God and all people. They accomplish this by creating relevant environments where people are encouraged and equipped to pursue intimacy with God, pursue community with believers, and pursue an influence in the world.
